here's the mp4 version of the video i made.
http://vimeo.com/29943681

its a fairly simple video i suppose.
all footage was taken from my macbook webcam.
basically, i made an A-roll of my thoughts:
considering primarily what i think it takes to be
a contemporary artist today...

the format is basically just "what came to mind"
at the time. took a few tries. i'm not super good at just
saying what i'm thinking. on a few occasions, i had to say it,
watch my unedited video, take notes, and repeat.
the result is ok i suppose. i have a tendency to say kind of
stupid stuff. but stupid is good right?

my B-roll is basically footage i had previously shot from my
macbook. some of it is pretty old. i used it, however, as a sort of
"vlog" of my whole "webcam life" if you will before this last actual
"face-to-face" encounter, if you will. in a way, i feel like vlogging
is a way of documenting one's life. soo, i took the "documentary
style" route, but placing in the b-roll footage appropriately during
the dialogue trying my best to place in the "correct" footage at the
"right" time. the result was moderately pleasant and surprising.

though i can't say i'm all that proud of this piece.
its an ok first attempt. definitely gonna try this again sometime.
some things i'd change are:
. the placement of my eyes and interaction with the "audience"
. the audio
my macbook has a terrible mic
there always seems to be this high pitched screaching in the back.
i'm also not so cool with the grainy quality of the video.
guess my laptop is just old. also, i had to compress the file to mp4.
so, it basically just goes from shitty to shittier. lol

ohwell.
have to admit that i'm slightly embarressed and self-conscious.
kind of weird seeing myself talking.

but, as they say.
practice does make perfect...
